Prenatal Consultation

Appointment Description

A prenatal consultation will lay the groundwork for your breastfeeding journey and allow you to discuss any possible concerns you may have. This consultation would include nipple measurement, flange fitting and understanding the art of hand expression, which is especially useful to kickstart your breastfeeding journey. It is ideal for mothers who have approached their 30th week of pregnancy and/or had a previously challenging breastfeeding journey or other breast anomalies (i.e., breast reductions, enhancements, flat or inverted nipples etc.).

When Can You Start

You may book a consultation anytime between your 30th to 36th week of pregnancy.

Consultation Style & Format

As this is a private consultation, one of our Lactation Specialists will meet with you physically at the Hegen Lactation Centre or virtually via Zoom. Partners are welcome.

Consultation Fees & Duration

S$100.00 / hour (Physical or Virtual) - Weekdays

Postnatal Consultation

This is ideal for mothers who have challenging breastfeeding experiences (i.e. blocked ducts, mastitis, low supply, breast anomalies) or requires professional lactation advice.

When Can You Start

You may book a consultation anytime from your hospital discharge date.

As this is a private consultation, one of our Lactation Specialists will meet with you privately at the Hegen Lactation Centre or virtually via Zoom. Partners are welcome.

The Childbirth Preparation class is one of the popular antenatal classes designed to equip you and your partner to be confident about pregnancy, labour, and baby care. It also includes antenatal classes in Singapore.

Back-To-Work Breastfeeding Class

Course Description

The Back-To-Work Breastfeeding Class empowers nursing mothers with the necessary skills and management strategies to continue breastfeeding and successfully transition back to work.

Course Structure

Part 1: Establishing A Pumping Discipline

  • How to create a work pump schedule
  • Establishing a milk bank before returning to work
  • Techniques for pumping on the go
  • Understanding pump settings for optimal pumping

Part 2: Management Strategies

  • How to get a caregiver/infant care to offer a bottle
  • How to manage a "nursing strike" and "nipple confusion"
  • Techniques for overcoming dipped and/or low supply
  • Technique for hand expression

Part 3: Storage and Sterilising Guide

  • How to sterilise and store expressed breast milk on-the-go
  • Assembling a pump bag

(Exclusive for Private Classes) The consultation session will include

  • Assessment of breast condition
  • Re-assessment of nipple measurement and flange fitting

When Can You Start

Nursing mothers are encouraged to attend this one month before returning to work to have sufficient time to practice and apply techniques learnt during the class. It also ensures your child has enough runway to transition and simulate a feeding schedule during a workday.
